Every fly fisher has a bucket list of destinations he or she would like to fish at some point in their lives. For those familiar with the many exotic fly fishing destinations in the world; fishing Argentina...is near the top of the list.
The Big News in today’s Argentina fly fishing is Limay River Lodge, the first lodge on the famed Middle Limay River. As unexpected as it may sound, considering its location, this is an unusually attractive lodge in the middle of the Patagonian wilderness located on the banks of the incredibly productive Middle Limay River, right on the border of Neuquén and Rio Negro Provinces in Northern Patagonia, Argentina. And this is not just any lodge, this operation is one of the finest anywhere with exceptional lodging, cuisine, service, personnel, equipment and, of course, fly fishing and guides.
Probably the richest fishing resource in Patagonia today, the Middle Limay River offers unique fly-fishing opportunities for the international angler.

Fishing Program
The Middle Limay River runs 50 miles along the semi-arid Patagonian high steppe into the huge fertile Lake Ramos Mejía.
THESE ARE THE FEATURES THAT MAKE THE MIDDLE LIMAY UNIQUE:
- The fact that it is a tail water fishery ensures profuse insect and underwater life of all sorts generating ideal conditions for super healthy populations of resident strong brown and rainbow trout that will take dries on the surface like there is no tomorrow.
- The fact that it flows into a gigantic fertile lake makes for the possibility of hunting large migratory brown trout that will run up the river during the entire season getting ready for spawning time in the late fall.
Both features mentioned make for a unique combination of action and excitement. You can fish dries on the surface all day long and/or you can dredge the bottom with fast heavy sinking heads and large weighted streamers if hunting huge fish is your focus. You can fish it by wading or from the boat... or a combination of both.
The river offers exciting everyday surface and nymph action for large healthy Rainbows and Browns, plus the opportunity to target some of the largest Browns in Patagonia (with 6 to 8+ pounders taken regularly).
This is a river for everybody. The Middle Limay River is a big body of water, very braided with countless channels offering some of the most challenging and rewarding fly-fishing experience in Patagonia today.
