GOLDEN DORADO

Only recently discovered by the world game fishing community the Golden Dorado (not to be confused with it’s saltwater namesake) has become of fly fishermen due to it’s “devil” like ability to fight relentlessly and jump when hooked.

The Golden Dorado has a large head with powerful jaws filled with sharp teeth.  They range in size from 6 to 20 lbs though the largest specimen ever caught was 69 lbs. They live in warm freshwater habitats in southern Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Bolivia and Northern Argentina.

Lodges where you can find them: Pira Lodge.
