ESTANCIA LAGUNA VERDE
Destination Overview

At Kiene's Fly Fishing Travel  it is our dream to experience absolutely the most incredible Rainbow Trout fishing in the world and Jurassic Lake (Strobel Lake) is just that! It is located in the Santa Cruz province of Argentina’s Patagonia and we would like to share it with you.

Estancia Laguna Verde Lodge, located on the 37,000 acre Estancia Laguna Verde ranch, is your base camp for exploring the 40 square mile lake and its main tributary the Barrancoso River.

Additionally along with its first class lodging, it has exclusive access to the best beats on the Barrancoso River, Moro Creek and over 12 smaller lakes and lagoons each with their own stock of gigantic Rainbows, Enstancia Laguna Verde Lodge is the obvious choice for serious anglers looking for a fishing trip of a lifetime.

All of this world class fishing requires effort and determination as the lodge is located about 5 hours from the nearest airport, but that is a small price you have to pay to experience some of the most amazing fishing in the world.  While on your trek it is good to know that at the end of your journey, your accommodations will be equal or better than any fishing lodge in the world.

Fishing Program

The Jurassic Lake is arguably the most prolific trophy Rainbow fishery in the world.  It sits in a desert sink at about the 3000 ft. elevation. When you arrive you truly feel the prehistoric ambience of the area and understand why th word “Jurassic” has been used to describe the area.

As you arrive at what appears to be an almost prehistoric diorama you will feel In your gut the foreboding of the gargantuan Rainbow trout (that average over 10 lbs)  that you will soon be fighting on the end of your line.

Among the several reasons that Kiene's Fly Fishing Travel recommends Estancia Laguna Verde Lodge is that it offers a more varied fishing program than many of the other lodges. In addition to fishing the magnificent Jurassic Lake and Barrancoso River, the lodge has access to the Laguna Verde lake (which in itself offers first class Rainbow fishing)  but also several lakes and creeks in the area.

Strobel Lake (Jurassic Lake) looks much like the ocean, with the water often choppy due to the consistent wind, but your guide will show you how those conditions bring its Rainbows in close to feed on the multitude of scuds, shrimp and other aquatic life that are stirred up by the small waves along the shore. When the wind is calm you will have an opportunity to sight fish to the huge shadows that cruise the shoreline.

All guides speak fluent English, and have years of experience in the local waters.  Their goal is to provide you with an experience that will more than meet your expectations on all levels.
