Once one of the most prolific Salmon on the Pacific Coast, their numbers have dwindled, particularly in their southern ranges due to habitat degradation caused by agricultural practices and urbanization.
That being the case, there are still large numbers available the fly fishermen in British Columbia and Alaska.  Adults usually weigh 8 to 12 pounds and are 24 to 30 inches long, but individuals weighing 31 pounds have been landed.
Adults in salt water or newly returning to fresh water are bright silver with small black spots on the back
and on the upper lobe of the tail fin.
Lodges where you can find them: Alaska Fish and Float, Reel Action Camp, Steelhead Valhalla, Egdorf’s Nushagak Camp, Royal Coachman Lodge, Iliamna River Lodge, Rainbow River Lodge, Savan Base Camp.
