CAPE BRETON ISLAND - NOVA SCOTIA

Destination Overview
The beautiful Margaree Valley is gorgeous enough to grace a Canadian stamp – and it actually does. The valley is home to lively Canadian activities. It is known for blends of Scots, Irish, French-Acadian and English heritage. Stay in the historic Normaway Inn, a very classy Inn with incredible food and services.
The local area will thrill those seeking cultural experiences. Music, beaches, shopping, quilting, weaving, rughooking, world renowned fishing harbor and exceptional pubs(fresh lobster/crab/scallops) will blow you away. However, it is the Margaree River that sets the tone for your visit. Its pristine waters are a sight to behold….and fly fish. What a spectacular setting. You will want to have a car available to tour the area.

Fishing Program
The history of fly fishing the Margaree is rich and storied. The Margaree is the backbone of the entire valley. It is as close to an anglers paradise as you will find in Nova Scotia. There are species Speckled Brook trout, Brown trout and Striped Bass in abundance.
However, it is world famous as an Atlantic Salmon River. That is without doubt our targeted fish. We especially like the summer run with excellent dry fly opportunities. The runs are more predictable and fish more numerous. Expect Atlantic Salmon from 4 to 10 lbs. During Salmon seasons it is fly fishing, catch and release with barbless hooks.

Accommodations
Our choice for our stay in Margaree Valley is the Normaway Inn. Trip Advisor rates it as a “must stay” place on Cape Breton Island. It is set in a grove of Scotch pines and leads to a white shingled lodge with a sunny dining room.
Tucked away on 250 acres of woodlands and fields are cabins with screened verandas and porch swings. The owner takes great pride in his food and lodgings. The chefs' nightly menu focuses on Atlantic salmon, lamb raised along the Margaree, and vegetables from the Normaway garden.
The Normaway Inn is one of the premier lodging houses on the island. You will know that you have had a wonderful vacation when you stay at the historic Normaway Inn. Quaint, serene and historic is a good way to describe Normaway.
